Surface Pattern Design Collaborations

With 2019 drawing to a close and a new decade fast approaching, at Kirath Ghundoo we’ve been feeling slightly nostalgic. Looking back through our vast array of collaborations and the unique projects we’ve been lucky enough to work on over the previous years, we’re excited to see what surface design projects 2020 brings. From working on collaborations designing for tote bags, tiles and lampshades, our signature geometric and graphical prints can be found everywhere. Take a look for yourself and discover who we’ve previously joined forces with to bring a geometric and contemporary twist to surface design globally.

// Blik, LA
Over the past five years, we’ve been working closely with Blik (based in LA), designing a wide range of bold and eccentric patterns and prints which are then applied to a variety of interior and lifestyle products which Blik are specialists in creating. Products range from self-adhesive tiles to wall panels to tote bags. We love seeing how our graphical style is interpreted, developed and transformed into a physical product. All products featuring our super cool surface designs can be found at https://www.whatisblik.com/

// KitchenWalls, Netherlands
Working collaboratively with KitchenWalls, we had the opportunity to work on a designer range and create four patterned splashback wallpapers. The new and revolutionary material used for these splashback designs is both heat and water resistant, reusable and easily cleaned, so they’re perfect for both kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms. Designs for this collaboration are cool and quirky and will certainly bring modernity to any space. Interested in our collaboration with KitchenWalls? All splashback wallpapers are available to purchase directly from Behangfabriek

// Kaza Concrete, Hungary
A collaboration with Kaza Concrete saw our surface patterns transformed into the exciting world of tile design. Kaza has introduced the world’s first truly bespoke concrete tile, 'Mystile'. We worked alongside a number of other designers worldwide to produce 'The Collection', which showcases a series of innovative 3D concrete tile designs. Our design 'Haus' was inspired by elements of architecture and Persian design.

// Azure, USA
Together with Azure, Minnesota, we completed a project in which we designed two different felt products to add to their ever-expanding portfolio of contemporary contract furniture, which they supply to large interior spaces. We designed both felt hangings and felt tiles which bring both colour and contrast to more open interior spaces. The felt tiles have high acoustic performance and can be used as a tackable surface. The felt hangings we designed are made from 100% virgin merino wool and are available in a vast array of colours (65+) and designs. We love the finished outcome of this collaboration with Azure and the combination of colour, incredible material and contemporary design, makes these felt products the perfect addition for any larger, open space. Please contact Azure directly for queries and orders.

// Livart, Korea
Collaborating with Hyundai Livart in Korea, we worked on a challenging pattern project, which was unlike any project we had previously worked on before. We were asked to design a series of patterns which could then be translated into stitch, to then be used in the stitching of mattresses for the 2016 Ensleep collection. Livart requested that we kept designs minimal, so they reflected a Scandinavian feel. For this project, we developed four stitch designs which all incorporated geometric elements, yet each design was unique and individual to the other.

// Contravision, UK
Contravision are known for their see-through graphic technology. Their Vision Management System™ comprises products and technologies designed to be seen, and to be seen through, which transform transparent panels and surfaces in more ways than you’d think possible, the perfect surface for our geometric forms. Using patterns and colours which complemented the Contravision brand, we worked with them to design five large see-through panels for their Manchester office. We just love how sleek and modern each of these panels look and how our geometric designs adjust and alter depending on the light and transparency of the surface.

// Rosalilibrauna, Germany
Working on a project with German light manufactures, Rosalilibrauna, who are known for producing superior lighting products with both hand printed and high quality fabrics, we were excited to be able to develop and design our very own exclusive collection of surface designs for lampshades. Throughout this project, we created three designs, all suitable for a range of interior spaces. Go bold and bright with ‘Kiwi’ and ‘Chilli’ or tone it down slightly with our ‘Sharon’ design in mint green. Contact Rosalilibrauna for more detail.
