How to Mismatch our Wallpaper

Here at KG hq we love designs that are outside the box and a bit quirky, that’s just us! Nine years ago when we were setting up our brand, we introduced wallpapers that have no match up or repeat in the pattern, they are super fun, sustainable and easy to use.  Currently we have eight wallpaper collections utilising these concepts to choose from, some are part of a Mix ’n’ Match collection where you can use patterns in that particular range to design a feature wall. Some are Mismatch, these rolls are ten metres of assorted pattern, which you can go super wild with and design a snazzy interior space. Ten customers could buy the same roll, yet create a different outcome, how cool is that! For example they could paste landscape or portrait, cut and paste at different sections and even rotate the design to be pasted the opposite way.

When researching wall coverings all those years ago we wanted to create and bring a unique wall coverings system to the interiors market. We’ve always loved working large scale within a collaged format and started to experiment with digital designs on wallpaper. Throwing out the rule book on standard wallpaper design we invented the Mix ’n’ Match, Mismatch wallpaper system. This led to a nomination for an ‘Elle Decoration British Design Award’ and a runner up Homes and Garden ‘Young Designer of the Year’ amongst others. The interiors market love it’s sustainability, there’s less wastage as most of the roll is utilised when pasting. We wanted the end user to dictate the final design composition, which the Mix ’n’ Match and Mismatch system allows the user to do.

Below we have designed a few visuals to help you understand how the the wallpapers can work within your space. We have a wide range of designs to choose from, however for this blog post we’ve highlighted three patterns, Kandy 14, Verde and Mosaic wallpapers. Please also check out our latest IGTV on instagram, where we demonstrate how to mismatch the Verde wallpaper. Bear in mind that these are examples are few amongst the many ways you could design and style them! We always love seeing clients finished walls.

Kandy 14 Wallpaper

This is a bright fun pastel wallpaper, inspired by our travels to Sri Lanka, Kandy in particular. This is a ten metre roll of assorted pattern. The pattern does not repeat at any point from side to side or down the roll. The visuals below show you what is on one roll and a couple a variations. This wallpaper is perfect for a children’s playroom, office or can you imagine a small powder room with all the walls pasted! Be imaginative and quirky with utilising the layout, within the large blocks of colour, create a pin or vision board if this wallpaper was used in an office space. You could also add shelves within the blocks of colour and style with accessories or books.

Verde Wallpaper

Want a super stylish botanical inspired wallpaper, well look no further than this stunner! It’s one of those wallpapers you need to see in person to see how gorgeous it looks. With a mixture of botanical photography and structured geometrics, this wallpaper is almost jewel like in vision, inspired by our travels to Colombia. This is a ten metre roll of assorted pattern. The pattern does not repeat at any point from side to side or down the roll. Verde wallpaper can be used in a variety of interior spaces from hotels, restaurants, bars, office spaces, retail spaces and off course residential too. Check out some of these variations and our latest IGTV on Instagram where we demonstrate the Mismatch wallpaper using this pattern. We also show a snippet of it on our gold base wallpaper….so lush, glam and boujee!

Mosaic Wallpaper

The Mosaic wallpaper is part of the Mix ’n’ Match 11 collection. This pattern repeats down the roll but not side to side, however the repeat is long, 52cm by 175.8 cm to be exact. This is to ensure the pattern mismatches enough at various intervals along your wall. This was one of the first wallpapers we designed and it has been one our most popular! Check out some of the variations below using the one pattern, Mosaic in the collection. A popular combination is paring Mosaic with Persia and Aztec from the same Mix ’n’ Match 11 wallpaper collection
