SURFACE PATTERN COLLABORATION WITH BLIK \\ LA

In June 2016, I visited Cuba, visiting Havana, Trinidad, Cienfuegos and Varadero. The rustic charms of this island nation compelled me to capture the old history before it changed, and is the inspiration behind two new patterns for BLIK. This is our seventh surface pattern collaboration with BLIK allowing me to share my designs across the globe around trendy LA and beyond.

Cuba is a magical place full of bright colour around every street corner with snippets of broken tiles, decaying man made surfaces with contrasting patterns. Cuba is a surface designer's dream. I have juxtaposed bold tropical colors, architectural styles like brick and tile work, with geometric line art to create Cuba Wall Panels and Trinidad Wall Panels

Green & Pink Swoon

We are loving a green and pink interiors combination this month! Our Mountain Green and Fold Greenwallpapers from our Basics range offer different shades of the same colour. Iso from our Mix 'n Matchrange is a subtle version of pastel pink. Either paired together on adjacent walls or pasted separately this colour combination is thumbs up!

LATEST SURFACE PATTERN COLLABORATION | HYUNDAI LIVART | KOREA

We love the range of challenging projects that come through the door. This latest surface pattern collaboration project was a pleasure to work on. Transforming our patterns into stitch for mattresses. Working on the project over the last 12 months there have been many stages from initial concepts/research/ fabric and pattern sampling with stitch to the final products.
Overall we designed four patterns for the 2016 Ensleep Collection available to purchase from Hydudai Livart in Korea. Each one is individual adding a quirky design element through shape reflecting a cool and minimal scandinavian style.

GO BESPOKE

Bespoke projects are my favourite, whether that be designing patterns for products such as home accessories or fashion or creating a bespoke wallpaper for a client.

Recently I completed a fantastic creative bespoke wallpaper project for a Centre Process Innovation (CPI). I was approached to design a bespoke wallpaper that reflects the theme of the company - biology and science - how could I make this super cool?!
I wanted to write this blog post to highlight the process of working on a very unique wallpaper project from start to finish.

1. Design meeting to discuss initial ideas, themes and budget. The team at CPI left the initial stages very open ended. I worked closed with the Interior Architect whom provided plans and measurements of each area so I could make a start on this 6 week project.

2. I visited the science labs to soak up some inspiration for a starting point. Observing colour choices which had not been fully discussed at this stage and whether CPI wanted a more corporate or cool feel?

3. From my collection of photos I started to interpret my own designs. As the spaces I was designing for were huge I worked on wide width wallpaper. For an appropriate amount of coverage to ensure a variation without to much repetition I designed three rolls, overall 30m of varied pattern.

4. Design meeting to present first draft to the team and note feedback and alterations. The first draft was very creative and included aspects bright popping colour. From this point is was decided the designs were spot on and the colours needed to muted to the corporate colours that range from a blue to grey for CPI. I added aspects of oranges, pinks and yellows subtly. The furniture upholstery had speckles of bright colours which we wanted to reflect in the design.

5. The team at CPI decided later in the project the colours had to reflect the corporate theme of the company. Amendments and finalising designs back and forth, this is the final draft.

6. I worked on-site to help with installation making sure each panel was placed in the correct area. To see more photos of the project please visit here.

FEATURE YOUR WALLS

Are you thinking of sprucing up your interiors this year? Why not dare to go different with a unique feature wall for your living room, bedroom or any other interior space in your house.
I have created some cool features around my home which add a different feel and identity to each space. I am constantly changing my spaces as I am always collecting new finds from travels which ignite new themes!
Over the years it has been fantastic seeing how clients have transformed their homes with our designs. Some have applied single strips, some paired the papers with paint, landscape or portrait. I often have customers come to me for something more unique, designing a bespoke wallpaper. Recently I have worked with a lovely customer in Miami decorating their new nursery. Half of the large space is decorated with my Tropic wallpaper and the other half I designed a complimentary paper which was much more subtle. Pictures will follow soon!
I am loving my new collection KG BASICS 2016 . I wanted to create a subtle collection that works as a repeat creating stunning feature walls for all residential and commercial spaces. The most beautiful combinations work pairing patterns from all ranges, if you dare!

Me and my wonderful team are always on hand to help you with a feature wall or any other queries! Check out an example daring feature wall below, I have paired with some beautiful accessories which I adore.
