New Mismatch Miami 18 Wallpaper

Travel often inspires me in lots of ways and one of the biggest ways is through design! I can’t help but soak up the ambiance of other cultures and places and turn my inspiration into a new wallpaper for you to enjoy.

This summer 2018 I spent some time in Miami and Puerto Rico, both places were so vibrant in their own ways. What can I say….Miami has to be in my top 3 places I have traveled. The people, culture, design scene was certainly a bit of me. From Wynwood to Little Havana there were pockets of inspiration everywhere. Miami is known for its Art Deco magnificence and its pastel palettes. Using my camera to record the essence of the city I captured elements of shape and pattern and transformed my visual journey into a new wallpaper, Miami 18.

The roll has a free match and is non repetitive. Play with the 10m roll to create a composition that is unique to your interior space. The wallpaper adopts large graphic art deco shapes with pastel pink, grey, white and black tones. I wanted to keep a pastel tone to the wallpaper as these colours were very iconic to the buildings I observed.

Miami 18 is available to purchase via the online store and we ship worldwide. Thinking about a colour change, just get in touch to discuss your ideas. For contract interiors we can print onto a vinyl if preferred which is charged individually per job.

Tropical Wallpapers 2018

So I do think travel is life! Travel is where I pick up new inspiration, colour, ideas and outlandish thoughts for new collections! What can I say, I like to push the boundaries and bring a bit of my travel journey to your walls!. This month I am off to Miami and Puerto Rico for a long while, and yeah the art deco vibe kind off swayed my decision to visit Miami. The sun, salsa and spirit of Puerto Rico looks amazing, I will be travelling around the island and hopefully a new collection will be born this year!
Anyways...on the note of wallpaper, I am looking to decorate my interiors within my home and studio this summer. I am feeling the tropical vibe, especially the pistachio and blush pink trend, which is theme that is running through my soft furnishings at the moment. I've picked my top three wallpapers that are perfect for providing a caribbean and  tropical vibe to your interior space. Firstly Verde, inspired by my travels to Colombia, this is a fresh green wallpaper which captures the nature of this country. Using my photography and digital distortion this wallpaper is perfect for a two wall feature and kind of looks like sparkling jewels when pasted!
Secondly I have chosen, Trinidad which is part of the Mix 'n' Match 17 collection. You can chose to mix this wallpaper with other rolls in the collection or just work with the one roll. Inspired by my favourite place in the whole world, Cuba...this wallpaper is certainly a bit of me! It's bright, cool and perfect for those selfie backgrounds.
Finally I have chosen Persia, from my Mix 'n' Match 11 collection. This wallpaper is so versatile and can be used is a variety of spaces from a open plan living room to a children's nursery. It is a quirky take on tropical and creates the most stunning feature wall.

Colombia Cool \\ Mismatch 18 Wallpaper Collection

Mismatch 18 introduces two new patterns, Cali and Verde, inspired by travels to Colombia in July 2017.  Set in the mountains, Bogota and Medellin boast this amazing greenery amongst the hustle and bustle of cosmopolitan city life! Cali breathes salsa and the urban graffiti esque backdrops throughout the city are mesmerising. It was very easy to be design inspired and translate this into master wall pieces.
The Mismatch 18 wallpaper collection is not designed to match up or repeat.  Apply one strip, no need for wastage, continue with the next strip from where the last one ended, or from wherever you desire. Each pattern is digitally printed onto 52cm by 10m roll and available to purchase via our online store.

CATWALK COMES HOME WITH LIVING ETC JUNE 2017

This months Living Etc features two new interiors trends for summer straight from the catwalk which my wallpapers compliment. Red and blue can be quite bold colour choices for an interior scheme, however as you know I'm not afraid to experiment with statement colour and pattern choices! Rocco Red wallpaper from the KG Basics 16 range falls into the 'chill red' trend which features beautiful interior accessories from Maisons du Monde. I have my eye on these for some new furniture.
With the sun now making an appearance, who can resist a bit of nautical! I had my eye on the 'chic ahoy' trend back in 2016 and introduced The Hampton wallpaper from the KG 16 basics range. Work with the big bold stripes in this wallpaper ad pair with accents of red accessories to bring the seaside into your interiors.

MARBLE TREND 2017

So I love a bit of marbling and the trend for this has been huge with the interiors world. Recently I have been working in the print studio creating some beautiful marbling patterned prints. The colours and spontaneity behind the process is magical. I have been working on some of the prints digitally and I am  sketching out some some wallpaper ideas. Mismatch marble is on its way....keep your eyes peeled for further updates. Below are a few of my prints from experimentation. #onpoint

SUMMER TRAVEL INTERIOR VIBES 2017

I have a huge love for travel and whenever there is the possibility to visit somewhere new I am on it! If you don't already know, my travel destinations often form the basis of my wallpaper collections. If you are looking for some holiday inspiration this summer 2017 below are our top five spots to visit. However, fear not, if you wont be jetting of this summer, bring a bit of pattern paradise to your interiors with our worldly wallpaper selection.

1. Maldives

This is the perfect place to relax and unwind for a maximum of seven days. I like a mixture of adventure and sunbathing so seven days is enough before I head of to my next destination. The Mix 'n' Match 15 wallpaper collection introduces two patterns, Tropic and Monochrome, two rolls of assorted pattern with no single repeat. Inspired by under the sea and applying our pretty geometric interpretation, Tropic draws upon the brights of sea life surfaces experimenting with an ombre effect colour balance. Monochrome is a black and white contrast of the same patterns adding a bold statement wallpaper to our existing collections.

2. Marrakech

This is one of my favourite places to buy interior accessories for my home. There is so much pattern, colour and vibrance to capture across this city. I had to translate my surface pattern love for this place onto paper, you can buy some our favourite designs from the KG Basics 2016 range. Shop Medina Red and Jazz Vintage!

3. Cuba

In June 2016 I travelled to Cuba visiting the sites of Havana Trinidad, Cienfuegos and Varadero. The rustic charms of Havana still remain and I wanted to capture the old history before it all changes. Trinidad is a magical place full of bright colour around every street corner with snippets of broken tiles, decaying man made surfaces with contrasting patterns. Cuba is surface designer's dream as there is so much to see and record through drawing and photography.

The Mix ‘n’ Match 17 wallpaper collection introduces three new patterns, Havana, Obrapia and Trinidad. I took so many interesting photos in Cuba and we wanted to include these within the final collection. Combining photography and Illustrator I designed three new wallpaper patterns which reflect the imperfect beauty of Cuba. Below is Oprabia and Trinidad.

4. India

Being Indian, it was great to finally travel India and introduce my heritage and culture into this collection. Taj and Pink City make up the India 14 collection. I  took in the sights of the beautiful Taj Mahal and Jaipur, in which I fell in love with the bright colours and soft and curvaceous lines of the architecture. The colours of the collection play with a striking rich traditional Indian red offset with muted pastel hues.

5. Dubai

High - end and glamourous springs to mind when I think Dubai. It's a perfect break with scorching temperatures, hot sands and hot sea's. I always stop over in Jumeirah for a few days when traveling long - haul indulging in some luxury!   I had to create a collection that incorporates the glam of Dubai with some KG pattern style.
Jewel, Ash and Sombre make up the Mix n Match 13 collection. Drawing influences from Arabian architecture, dark nights and nature, 13 captures snippets of an opulent colour palette represented through a rich aubergine and teal. Below is Jewel and Sombre Wallpaper.

CRWYS HOUSE APARTMENTS

We were delighted to work with CPS Homes on a new 24 room apartment development in Wales for 2016, Crwys House.

The brief was to  design a mix 'n' match wallpaper for a large bespoke feature wall for the entrance of the apartment block (4m by 17m, photos to follow soon). The mix 'n' match feature wall runs the length of all 5 floors within the build. To accompany the feature wall we designed a bespoke geometric wallpaper for each of the flats and our Sparkle Black paper from the KG Basics 16 collection was used to style a backdrop feature for some of the apartments. The overall interior look is very Scandinavian with pops of electric colour.

We have worked with CPS Homes for the last three years, having decorated their offices and residential spaces, we have developed an excellent working relationship. It was a pleasure designing the wallpaper and working with an fab team on the Crwys House apartment block. Visit more photos here.
