New Mismatch Miami 18 Wallpaper

Travel often inspires me in lots of ways and one of the biggest ways is through design! I can’t help but soak up the ambiance of other cultures and places and turn my inspiration into a new wallpaper for you to enjoy.

This summer 2018 I spent some time in Miami and Puerto Rico, both places were so vibrant in their own ways. What can I say….Miami has to be in my top 3 places I have traveled. The people, culture, design scene was certainly a bit of me. From Wynwood to Little Havana there were pockets of inspiration everywhere. Miami is known for its Art Deco magnificence and its pastel palettes. Using my camera to record the essence of the city I captured elements of shape and pattern and transformed my visual journey into a new wallpaper, Miami 18.

The roll has a free match and is non repetitive. Play with the 10m roll to create a composition that is unique to your interior space. The wallpaper adopts large graphic art deco shapes with pastel pink, grey, white and black tones. I wanted to keep a pastel tone to the wallpaper as these colours were very iconic to the buildings I observed.

Miami 18 is available to purchase via the online store and we ship worldwide. Thinking about a colour change, just get in touch to discuss your ideas. For contract interiors we can print onto a vinyl if preferred which is charged individually per job.

Tropical Wallpapers 2018

So I do think travel is life! Travel is where I pick up new inspiration, colour, ideas and outlandish thoughts for new collections! What can I say, I like to push the boundaries and bring a bit of my travel journey to your walls!. This month I am off to Miami and Puerto Rico for a long while, and yeah the art deco vibe kind off swayed my decision to visit Miami. The sun, salsa and spirit of Puerto Rico looks amazing, I will be travelling around the island and hopefully a new collection will be born this year!
Anyways...on the note of wallpaper, I am looking to decorate my interiors within my home and studio this summer. I am feeling the tropical vibe, especially the pistachio and blush pink trend, which is theme that is running through my soft furnishings at the moment. I've picked my top three wallpapers that are perfect for providing a caribbean and  tropical vibe to your interior space. Firstly Verde, inspired by my travels to Colombia, this is a fresh green wallpaper which captures the nature of this country. Using my photography and digital distortion this wallpaper is perfect for a two wall feature and kind of looks like sparkling jewels when pasted!
Secondly I have chosen, Trinidad which is part of the Mix 'n' Match 17 collection. You can chose to mix this wallpaper with other rolls in the collection or just work with the one roll. Inspired by my favourite place in the whole world, Cuba...this wallpaper is certainly a bit of me! It's bright, cool and perfect for those selfie backgrounds.
Finally I have chosen Persia, from my Mix 'n' Match 11 collection. This wallpaper is so versatile and can be used is a variety of spaces from a open plan living room to a children's nursery. It is a quirky take on tropical and creates the most stunning feature wall.

GO BESPOKE

Bespoke projects are my favourite, whether that be designing patterns for products such as home accessories or fashion or creating a bespoke wallpaper for a client.

Recently I completed a fantastic creative bespoke wallpaper project for a Centre Process Innovation (CPI). I was approached to design a bespoke wallpaper that reflects the theme of the company - biology and science - how could I make this super cool?!
I wanted to write this blog post to highlight the process of working on a very unique wallpaper project from start to finish.

1. Design meeting to discuss initial ideas, themes and budget. The team at CPI left the initial stages very open ended. I worked closed with the Interior Architect whom provided plans and measurements of each area so I could make a start on this 6 week project.

2. I visited the science labs to soak up some inspiration for a starting point. Observing colour choices which had not been fully discussed at this stage and whether CPI wanted a more corporate or cool feel?

3. From my collection of photos I started to interpret my own designs. As the spaces I was designing for were huge I worked on wide width wallpaper. For an appropriate amount of coverage to ensure a variation without to much repetition I designed three rolls, overall 30m of varied pattern.

4. Design meeting to present first draft to the team and note feedback and alterations. The first draft was very creative and included aspects bright popping colour. From this point is was decided the designs were spot on and the colours needed to muted to the corporate colours that range from a blue to grey for CPI. I added aspects of oranges, pinks and yellows subtly. The furniture upholstery had speckles of bright colours which we wanted to reflect in the design.

5. The team at CPI decided later in the project the colours had to reflect the corporate theme of the company. Amendments and finalising designs back and forth, this is the final draft.
